Prepositions are indeclinable. Each preposition requires a certain case depending on the context. Some prepositions can bind more than one case but each case serves a different function, so they are not interchangeable.

Accusative case prepositions

- в / у / во / ув / уві / вві / ві (into, (leave) for, at (time),)
- за (in (time))
- незважаючи на (in spite of, notwithstanding, (in) despite of, regardless of)
- крізь (through)
- по ()
- через (in (time), after (time); via; through, by means of; because of, owing to, on account of, due to)

Dative case prepositions

- всупереч / усупереч (contrary (to) ; against; in spite (of) , despite (of) , regardless (of) , in defiance (of) , notwithstanding)
- завдяки (thanks to, owing to, by virtue of)

Genitive case prepositions

- біля (beside, at, by, past, near, alongside, by the side, side by side; about, towards, close by, hard by, nearly, approximately)
- від (with, of, from; against)
- внаслідок / унаслідок (in consequence (of) , consequently, in the issue, as a result of, owing to, because of)
- для (for, to)
- до (before; till, until, up to, to; by)
- з / із / зі / зо ()
- за (instead (of), for)
- задля (for this/that reason)
- коло (at, near (by), beside, by; about, nearly)
- край (beside, at, by, near)
- обабіч (on both sides; on each side)
- повз (past, by)

- уздовж / вздовж / вдовж (along, alongside (of); by; lengthwise, lengthways)

Instrumental case prepositions
