Baybayin Script
The Baybayin Script is an old script that was used by the Filipino people until the late 19th century. Here's an outline of the script:

During the Pre-Spanish era, the first row of baybayin shown above didn't even exist. However, after the Spanish came to the Philippines, they added something called a cross kudlit, which basically takes away the vowel part of the character (for example, with the cross kudlit, the character "ba" would become "b"). The baybayin script is constantly being modified to incorporate more westernized sounds (i.e. "cha", "ja", and "ra"). Some of the accommodations made to more modern filipino include:
- "ny-" being represented using a cross kudlit with the character "na"
- "r-" sounds using the same character as "d-"
- "j-" being represented by "diy-"
- "ch-" being represented by "ts-" ("ta" has the cross kudlit under it)
