An Introduction to the Language
The Livonian language is an endangered language spoken by less than 150 speakers today. It was believed that the last native speaker of the language had died, but some believe there are still some native speakers remaining. It is indeed a Baltic-Finnic language related to southern Estonian, but a long period of contact and influence by Latvian has greatly changed the structure of the language.
