An Introduction to the Language

Khmer is the official language of Cambodia and the second largest Austro-Asiatic language after Vietnamese. It has gained a lot of influence from Sanskrit and Pali, especially in dealing with royal and religious terms. It is the first written language of the Mon-Khmer family and has influenced and been influenced by the surrounding languages in the region.
