The numbers

There are a vast array of sets of Irish numbers, and each set has to be learnt by heart as the Gaelic language has chosen to distinguish between numbers for counting persons and things, to order things and persons and to number things and persons, 1-20 will be listed in this grammar, with the numbers 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 90, 100 and 100 explained later on.

The numbers 21-99 are formed by taking 1-9 and adding „is“ and the numbers 20- 90. When counting, the noun is inserted correctly lenited or eclipsed after the numbers 1-9, thereafter one add „is“ and the numbers 20-90.
