There are a number of suffixes in Inuktitut that when used with nouns give an extra meaning to the statement.
Expressing presence of objects
To say that there is something present, you add the ending taqaq. If you are using the 3rd person singular positive form, then to avoid using taqaqtuq, you use the ending talik. As usual, if it ends in a consonant, simply remove the consonant to add the ending.
Examples:
- ᑲ˙ᐱ - kaapi - coffee
ᑲ˙ᐱᑕᖃᖅᖃ? Kaapitaqaqqa? Is there coffee?
ᑲ˙ᐱᑕᓕᒃ Kaapitalik There is coffee.
ᑲ˙ᐱᑕᖃᙱᑦᑐᖅ Kaapitaqanngittuq. There is no coffee.
