This is a list of templates we have.
| Information : For basic formatting tips, see the Wikipedia Cheatsheet for more information. Although it is for Wikipedia, they both use the same core software and things mentioned on that page will work here too! |

Info Box
This is the code used to make the information boxes. Put them at the top of Language pages.
{{Info
|NName = 日本語
|EName = Japanese
|Family = Isolate
|SubFamily = NA
|Country = {{Flag|jp}} Japan
|Script = Hiragana, Katakana, Kanji
}}
Please include all the options. Put them as N/A if they are not applicable. Example:
|
Swedish |
||||
| Germanic | North Germanic | Sweden , Finland |
Extended Latin | |
The box will be placed on the right hand side and all text wraps around it, except for some reason tables like those made by other templates, so just be careful on that one. Now I will type a bunch of text so that the next sections in this help document won't wrap around this box so just disregard this latest babbling because for the aforementioned reason it is not really something useful that you need to read in order to use the full functionality of this template so just ignore it.
These boxes tend to be put into sub-templates called Template:LanguagenameInfo and can be called using {{LanguagenameInfo}}.
Needs Checking
This is the code to make a piece of text saying this needs checking.
{{Needs checking}}
For example:
I say the following points about a language, but I'm not 100% sure.
This needs to be checked
- point a
- maybe a subpoint
- point
- a
- heap more points
- etc
- a
Flag
This is the code to insert a flag from a language code into your page
{{Flag|ja}}
The "jp" can be replaced with many ISO code. If you need more see the Request page and ask for them to be added. For example:
Note: You need a space after each flag tag to avoid them being merged into each other.
Country
This is the code to insert a flag from a country code into your page
{{country|AT}}
The "jp" can be replaced with many ISO code. If you need more see the Request page and ask for them to be added. For example:
Note: You need a space after each country tag to avoid them being merged into each other. And, the codes must be capital lettered.
Examples
This is the code to make the examples box
{{Examples|this is a list of examples for something I'm explaining<br>This is a new line of examples}}
For example:
Examples:
- You say this, I say that
Then I should probably explain this too!
Prerequisites
This is the code for adding a prerequisites box
{{Prereq|[[Link to page they need to view]]}}
For example below. This box should be placed first on any relevant pages.
Main Page Hungarian |
Colours
We have a bunch of colours available. I will add them as they are created. Feel free to create your own and add them to the list below.
{{blue|bluetext}} {{red|redtext}} {{green|greentext}}
{{darkblue|darkbluetext}} {{brown|browntext}} {{lightgreen|lightgreentext}}
{{purple|purpletext}} {{gold|goldtext}} {{orange|orangetext}} {{pink|pinktext}}
{{yellow|yellowtext}} {{cyan|cyantext}} {{magenta|magentatext}}
Where it says [colour]text in the tags, that's the text that will be changed to the colour.
This is a comparison of Yellow and Gold as well as Purple and Magenta.
Some more comparisons: Blue cyan Dark Blue Green Light Green Red Brown
Glossing (Q)
This template is used for the glossing of words.
{{q|word to be glossed|gloss}}
For example: Ma tahantahtma - 1sg Present kaubamajjakaubamaja - Illative minna, aga mulMina - Allative ei ole autotAuto - Partitive.
Big
This template makes text big.
{{Big|bigtext!}}
This is particularly good when using texts in scripts which don't show up so well at this size because of the complexity of them, or bad fonts. So it makes it clearer. For example: Հայերեն versus Հայերեն.
Note
This template is for making superscript numbers. Useful for footnotes.
{{Note|14}}
It will make things like this1. Then later on you can add notes like this if you want:
- 1: This one is this.
Lexicon
This template is used for assigning tags quickly and easily in the Lexicon:Home page.
{{Lexicon|Finnish}}
This will generate a list of links that will all lead to a separate section of the Lexicon:Finnish page.
In order to create said Lexicon:Finnish page, or whatever language you'd like to create a lexicon page for, you can merely use the sample rubric located at the Sample Page
Sweden ,
Finland
