An Introduction to the Language
The English language is spoken all around the world. It has one of the widest reaches of any language out there. It is the language of the internet and the language of Hollywood. It is a commonly used second language by many and there are a myriad of resources available in English for a great number of things. It has evolved over the years through various forms due to certain historical developments. It used to be a lot closer to older Germanic languages such as old Norse, but centuries of influence from other languages, especially French and Latin, have caused it to pick up a lot of new vocabulary from these languages.
