The Coptic language uses an alphabet that's based on the Greek alphabet used in Alexandria at the time of the Greek conquest of Alexander the great. It resembles a lunate (rounded) form of ancient Greek. There are also a number of letters that were derived from the Demotic script used in Egypt before Greek was enforced.
